Earthquake! A 5.9 centered here in VA just out of Richmond. Felt all the way up to upstate NY, down to GA, and over to IN even!
We were outside playing and I thought my vicodin was messing with me until I realised that nobody was shaking the picnic bench I was sitting at and the streetlamp kept wobbling long after it'd ended! Kids were busy playing on the equipment and didn't feel it.
It's clogging my Facebook feed right now. I guess this just doesn't happen here on the east coast. Cell service is basically gone and has been since it hit an hour ago.
"MSNBC reports that two reactors tripped and shut down at the North Anna Nuclear Power Plant in Lake Anna, Virginia, according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. There are currently no reports from the Surry nuclear power station, according to Dominion Virginia Power spokesperson Bonita Harris." -> WAVY article.
And now Sunday morning, Hurricane Irene is supposed to pass directly over us. But I mentioned that in the post before this. Once my head's back on straight, the kids & I will head over to the store to stock up on a few gallons of water just in case we're trapped. We've got basically everything else we'd need but water from last year's hurricane season.
